Monday’s Montage: Pops of Pink
I can almost hear the lull of Julia Robert’s southern accent in Steel Magnolias saying “Pink is my signature color…” as I reflect on pink themed weddings. It may seem cliché, but yes, pink has always been my signature color. As a little girl I played dress-up in fuchsia elbow length gloves and cotton-candy colored boas. As I got older, I thought about going to Sweet Briar College because their colors are pink and green, which made for a much cuter sweatshirt than the boring maroon and gray of my alma mater, Roanoke College. I even admit that I chose which sorority to join primarily because the colors were pink and white. So, when my long-awaited wedding day came, it wasn’t a surprise that I wanted it to be perfectly sprinkled with “blush and bashful” just like Julia’s character, Shelby, on her big day. But as Shelby’s mom , played by Sally Field, put it in the famous movie, some might be afraid that using too much pink will make the sanctuary look like it’s been “hosed down with Pepto-Bismol.” Never fear…even if pink has never been your signature color, this Monday’s Montage offers a few clever ways to add some fun and timeless romance to any wedding with tiny pops of pink. Enjoy!
