Ask a Bride: What are the current trends for wedding veils?
What are the current trends for wedding veils? Is it considered bad taste if I don’t wear one? – Shelley, Pittsburg, PA
Great question! Wedding veil styles are actually starting to slowly move away from wedding veils all together, especially in the warmer months. Nothing says casual wedding quite like a bride with flowing, veil-less hair. What is taking their place are headpieces and hairpins and they are doing an excellent job all on their own. The headpiece/hairpin option gives you the freedom to do whatever hairstyle you want without your veil influencing you. It also gives your hair the chance to play dress up as well and adds a touch of elegance to any style. Hairpieces and hairpins are also much more affordable and are a great option for the bride working on a budget. However as we move to colder weather, veils will make a bit of a comeback as well.
What is very trendy right now are cage and short length veils. These veils are also called blusher veils and only frame the face. These veils enable you to show off all detailing on your wedding dress but still give you the feel of wearing a veil. They are also available in many styles and give you the ability to be very creative and fun.
What is comes down to, is do you want to wear one? It’s your day and if you would feel more comfortable without something on your head, definitely go without it. This is certainly a growing trend that we are seeing a lot of. No one will be outraged!

Great ideas, thank you. I love the veil in the picture.
